he less-is-more philosophy rarely applies in the world of jewellery, where it’s often all about the size of the stone or the boldness and intricacy of the design. But when you’re in your casual tee and jeans or breezy tunics, a bit of subtlety might be more appropriate.

Monica Vinader has always been on point with everyday jewellery, and among the more popular lines is the Riva collection. Inspired by the objects found along the shores of the Italian Riviera, the collection features gold vermeil bracelets and rings shaped like waves, circles or kites studded with diamonds.

London-based designer Sarah Ho lets you wear your lucky number with her Numerati rings. At first glance, her designs look like random figures but are in fact the numbers one to nine made in 18K rose gold set with diamonds. Nirav Modi’s Embrace bangles also make elegant yet laidback accessories. Their calibrated elastic links come in white, yellow or rose gold and are set with more than 1.5 carats of diamonds.

Hermès’ Niloticus Ombre ring is edgy and luxurious, with the pattern of crocodile skin reproduced in rose gold. Should you wish for something more discreet, however, consider Georg Jensen’s Torun ring, which comes from a collection inspired by the work of minimalist Swedish designer Vivianna Torun, or Tiffany & Co’s T Wrap 18K rose-gold ring.

Wellendorff ’s famous rope necklace, meanwhile, dresses up casual garb without going overboard. Produced in solid 18K gold, Wellendorff ’s Silken Delight necklace is surprisingly lightweight, fluid and easy to wear.
