Fusion Frisson

At the juncture of two or more culinary delights lie these new restaurants around Jakarta to try today

-

Roosevelt

A posh and plush pad with nods to masculine, industrial style has now opened in South Jakarta’s sleek Goodrich Suites: Roosevelt Jakarta. Perched on the eighth floor with ample windows all around, not to mention the cosy covered veranda, savouring its moist dry-aged tomahawk steak and Bitter Sweet cocktail is a true joy. Other than its mean steaks and drinks, good mixtures of Asian-western plates are served, such as cured and smoked fish, and Hainan-style duck.

Warung Turki

From Chef Sezai Zorlu’s hometown in Iskenderun, Turkey, Warung Turki in Kemang presents authentic and delicious dishes including in its newest Sunday Brunch. In a feast of freshly grilled kebabs steeped in flavours that reflect centuries of culture and history, guests are served the juicy meats straight from the wood-fired ovens to the table. Moreover, there is the option of free-flow sparkling wine to accompany the all-you-caneat menu, plus a special set just for children.

Ottoman’s Coffee Brewer

With three photogenic, colour-coded corners in its second branch at Mega Kuningan’s Sopo Del Tower, the trio behind Ottoman’s introduce new brunch menus besides heftier offerings like of eggs benedict and hash browns with beetroot puree, or couscous with slow-roasted pork—to name a few. Coffee is always a winner here be it the classic V60 manual brew or the spirited orange honey latte; for non-coffee offerings, try its cheeky and colourful mocktail combinations.

Social Affair

From brunch to lunch and even late-night snacks, Social Affair and its Cacaote concept has it all in the latest Cilandak Town Square branch. Refreshing with yellow notes and tempting with a generous display of baked goods, choosing the croissant here is a must—plain, or with toppings both sweet and salty. Other menus include piquant Korean Eggs Benedict and plentiful Miso Salmon, plus cool coffee granita and warm Earl Grey-infused hot chocolate for drinks.

Union Café

Union Group now presents modern twists to beloved Indonesian-Chinese dishes in the deft hands of Chef Adhika Maxi, such as corn fritters with scallops and peanut dip, or steak in Indonesian spices with bird’s eye chilli confit. Moreover, Chef Karen Carlotta creates desserts ranging from the toothsome mix of cake and pudding doused with rum-spiked sauce to the classic, cloud-like bloeder bread, and many others—all warmly served in the woodpanelled café in Senayan City.
