Every moment is beautiful. every moment is a priceless gift from god. this is a reflection of the joy of the malaysian couple syafiqua noor azman and faiz zuhdi adri roslan. syafiqua is the beloved daughter of ybhg dato’ noor azman mohd nurdin and ybhg datin nor hayati abd malik, whereas faiz is the youngest son of ybhg datuk dr haji roslan arshad and ybhg datin hajah patimah sidek.

On a beautiful morning this early April, held at the bride’s private residence in the suburbs of Selangor, Malaysia, the couple had their marriage ceremony attended by family members, relatives, close friends, and high-ranking religious officials. “We are very delighted: our relationship of sacred love can finally be united forever,” Syafiqua tells

Indonesia Tatler. The procession, however, had started the previous day with the Henna night, commonly called “Majlis Berinai”, at the bride’s residence. Henna night plays an important role in Malay traditional wedding rituals because in the olden days, henna is thought to symbolise the sanctity of marriage.

On the next evening, in the Grand Ballroom of the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the

families hosted a dramatic wedding reception designed and organized by international wedding consultant Glam Weddings by Rizalman. “I love the beauty of the sea and the underwater world; therefore, the wedding reception was based on an underwater-fantasy theme inspired by the island of Atlantis,” Syafiqua says. The wedding reception was lively, and at the centre of it all, was the charming and beaming newlywed. Syafiqua looked most elegant wearing an ivory dress designed by Bernard Chandran, the international fashion designer from Malaysia dubbed as the “King of Fashion”, while the groom appeared in an elegant, luxurious, and classy tuxedo.

No fewer than 700 invited guests from all over the world, such as Indonesia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, the UK, the US, South Africa, and more, enlivened the event. In addition to the family relatives, close friends, and distinguished guests who congratulated the bride and groom, VIP guests included Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her husband, YB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Also in attendance were former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, YB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Mr Alexander and Mrs Melinda Tedja, Mr Henry

“marriage is all about building a loving family and a happy home,” faiz says.

Zaini and Mrs Millie Stephanie Lukito, the CEO and Bureau Chief of Mobiliari Group, publisher of Indonesia Tatler, and many other guests.

As colourful as the ceremonies and the friends is the journey that these two lovebirds had been through. Syafiqua’s first encounter with Faiz took place when they were both studying in London. However, at that time, they had no opportunity to get to know each other well. In 2015, Syafiqua returned to Malaysia. At the same time, Faiz, who had finished his education in accounting and finance from Durham University in the UK, returned home to Malaysia. In 2016, they found each other again and their love blossomed selflessly and faithfully.

One memorable moment was when Faiz took a long journey, driving alone in the middle of the night for about eight hours from Kuala Lumpur to the forest in the area of Taman Negara in Pahang—just to help out Syafiqua and her friend who were having a sticky situation while on vacation.

“I discovered that he is such a genuine person with the biggest and kindest heart,” she says. “Faiz is very caring and loving, displays great empathy, and has a deep understanding towards others.” At the end of 2016, their relationship reached its peak. Surrounded by the glittering city lights and under the strands of stars in the sky, at the

Eiffel Tower in Paris, Syafiqua and Faiz pledged their loyalty a committed relationship.

Three years later, Faiz formally asked for the blessing of Syafiqua’s parents, which, to his surprise, went very smoothly, and her parents agreed to them being married. “One of the pieces of advice her dad gave was that marriage is all about building a loving family and a happy home, so we are extremely grateful that we both have the same philosophy and outlook on the importance of good family relationship,” Faiz says. Focusing on the present to live life fully, the lovely couple are now ready to explore the world together and sparing much time and effort for their beloved families.
