Lunar Elegance
A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating the 25th anniversary of a legendary timepiece by releasing one limited-edition watch every month throughout 2019, and the Lange 1 Moon Phase ‘25th Anniversary’ is the sixth in the collection
It’s no secret that Swiss timepieces are widely regarded as the best in the world, so for German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne to open its first boutique in Switzerland and to be well received in the country is nothing short of a significant achievement. To celebrate the landmark occasion, and to mark the 25th anniversary of the iconic Lange 1, A. Lange & Söhne has released its sixth celebratory watch, the Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary” in only 25 pieces.
The 38mm piece comes in white-gold casing with a deep-blue hand-stitched alligator leather strap, blue steel hands, and a silver dial, giving it a classy and understated look. A lunar disc made of solid white gold is placed at the centre of the dial to represent different times of the day. It shows a starless bright sky during the day and gradually becomes darker as the day progresses; at night, it changes into a dark blue sky with contrasting stars.
Committed to high-precision watchmaking, A. Lange & Söhne’s moon-phase displays are 99.998 per cent accurate. If the watch runs without interruption, it only needs to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years. The watch has a power reserve of 72 hours and a balance spring developed inhouse, which beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour, held in place by a hand-engraved balanced cock. The Lange 1 Moon Phase “25th Anniversary” is priced at ¤43,300; for more information, visit www.alange-soehne.com/en.
