Already counting Michelle Obama and Tracee Ellis Ross as fans, 25-year-old designer Christopher John Rogers won last year’s CFDA/VOGUE Fashion Fund prize. Hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and based in Brooklyn, Rogers makes signature dazzling eveningwear laced with a touch of surrealism, taking inspiration from cinematic clowns and their Pierrot collars, and Paul Gauguin’s paintings’ voluminous silhouettes and abstract prints. His latest collection features taffeta bubble dresses, frothy tulle wraps and silk coordinates in nearly every colour of the rainbow.
