THE MOST WANDAFUL TIME OF THE YEAR
To end 2019 on a high note, Wanda Ponika collaborated with interior designer Adrianus Ekaputra, Benny Lim, one of Indonesia’s most prominent photographers, and HIF Creative to create Wandaful Reflection: a fundraising event supported by Wanda House of Jew
Wanda Ponika, founder and creative director of Wanda House of Jewels, has made her mark in the luxury jewellery industry over the past few years and has coupled this with a consistent approach to giving back to society. For the Wandaful Reflection art installation, she joined forces with some of the most powerful young people in their respective industries to create a piece depicting the works she has been involved with since 1995 as a jewellery designer, as well as the process of creating some of her masterpieces. Moreover, the installation also shared the stories of the charitable organisations involved: Yayasan Kanker Anak Indonesia, the Happy Hearts Foundation, the Maria Lukito Foundation, and Saab Shares. “Besides donating money, what’s also important is that we are trying to raise awareness for these amazing organisations so that people would be moved to help them,” Wanda told Indonesia Tatler.
Adrianus Ekaputra, the founder of Escalier Interior in
2009, who is known in the industry for his impeccable work for multinational companies as well as high-end residential establishments, was the man behind the idea of Wandaful Reflection. The mirror installation presented a symbol of reflections of ourselves, which was paired with an exhibition

of Wanda’s design process from sketching to finishing each piece through several pictures that were hung and other pieces that were showcased.
The classic yet modern installation acted as an amazingly Instagrammable spot as well as telling the stories of all the organisations involved. “I think the main message of the event, reflection, is very apt at this end-of-the-year moment, where you reflect upon the things that you’ve done for the whole year, especially things that created an impact toward other people,” said Wanda.
Further elaborating the concept of reflection, within this installation were photographs by Benny Lim, who is most famous for his work in wedding photography as well as children’s photography. Erlangga Boenawan from Laflo provided the furniture used in the photos, and Timothy Tandiokusuma, CEO of Black Boulder Capital and a young philanthropist, also gave his support. The resulting work was a presentation of photographs showing notable persons in society wearing Wanda House of Jewels’ pieces and facing a mirror to symbolise their journeys in life and how far they’ve come as individuals since from beginning until the end of 2019. Benny is a member of the Sony Southeast Asia Alpha Professional Photographer and a partner in the HIF Creative agency, which also played a part in the videography aspect of this installation.
For this initiative, Wanda House of Jewels selected and donated 16 jewellery pieces. The sales proceeds will be donated to one of four charity organisations featured at the Wandaful Reflections exhibition. The installation was located on the ground floor of Plaza Indonesia and was available for viewing until the end of November, and more fundraising events from each charity participant were encouraged during the event.
So it was that children from Yayasan Kanker Anak Indonesia gave a high-spirited performance as their event, while Indonesia Tatler’s CEO and Bureau Chief Millie Stephanie Lukito personally took donors’ photos in return for donations for the Maria Lukito Foundation given by these supporters. With her skills as a photographer, the beautiful photos would later be framed and sent to these friends of the foundation’s homes to remember the good causes they care about.
