New book details the importance of indonesia’s tenun ikat textile

One fine afternoon recently, forensic anthropologist and art enthusiast

Prof. drg. Etty Indriati, PH.D. launched her book Tenun Sumba: Membentang Benang Kehidupan at Josephin Komara’s BIN House in Menteng. The book is Etty’s second book about Sumba’s tenun ikat textile after her first, Beri Daku Tenun Sumba. She spent considerable time in Sumba as well as corresponding with the tenun ikat craftspeople there as part of her research for the book.

The result is an in-depth exploration of tenun ikat and its cultural importance.
