Japanese Odyssey
Autumn On A Plate
The first Tatler Travel departure—a collaboration with Japan Airlines— was a celebration of the autumn season. Conceived as an exceptional culinary journey, the trip began in the Japanese capital where guests checked into urban ryokan Hoshinoya Tokyo.
The first 36 hours alone featured two amazing feasts: it started with dinner at Inua, a two-michelin-starred restaurant by Noma alum Chef Thomas Frebel, who brought guests through the secret laboratory before the tasting course began. The next day was spent with acclaimed Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa, who welcomed the group into Bees Bar to share his satoyama philosophy followed by lunch at his eponymous restaurant where guests enjoyed a special menu created solely for Tatler Travel.
The group then travelled to Karuizawa, one of the best places to experience fall foliage. Home for the weekend was boutique hotel Shishi-iwa House, which was closed exclusively for the group. From a calming walk to the Shiraito Waterfall to whiskey tasting featuring the ultra-rare Karuizawa whiskey, guests left relaxed and enriched by this bespoke journey.
