IT TAKES A VILLAGE
In the hopes of showcasing the skills of Italy’s local artisans, Fendi invited craftspeople from 11 of the 20 regions of the country to interpret its iconic Baguette bag in a project called Hand in Hand. The artisans were encouraged to apply the traditional techniques native to each region, which are often cultivated and shared across generations. The resulting bags are being revealed in three separate phases, complete with stories of the artisans to accompany each piece. “Often fashion is about the designer, but I think it’s about time we celebrate the community that is behind it,” says Silvia Venturini Fendi.
