5 Healing Crystals and Their Properties
Theodora Warre, who established her eponymous jewellery line in 2014, tells us everything we need to know about crystals
1 Amethyst Purple amethyst is one of my favourite crystals and I often incorporate it into my designs. The amethyst I use comes predominantly from Brazil, where they have many mines. This stone is quite hard and dense, which is why it’s widely used in crystal jewellery because it doesn’t break easily when being carved, cut or set. Amethyst is a powerful stone known for its protective qualities.
2 Clear Quartz This is, in my opinion, the mother of all crystals. It has a glass-like lustre and is an incredibly high-quality crystal which, when cut very finely, is just dazzling. It’s sourced from all around the world, including the Himalayas and Madagascar. It’s been nicknamed “the master healer” and can promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
3 Lapis Lazuli An opaque crystal of a, which often has visible white veins and a metallic lustre, lapis lazuli is the birthstone for people born in December. It has long been associated with the brow chakra. Also known as “the third eye”, it directs our sight and everyday awareness of the world, bringing spiritual enlightenment, intuition and inner wisdom.
4 Rainbow Moonstone Rainbow moonstone has a natural pearly lustre: when light falls between the thin layers of its formation, it produces a phenomenon called adularescence, which creates a rainbow of colour. It is the birthstone for people born in June and can be worn to promote love, dreams, intuition and awareness.
5 Rose Quartz Rose quartz can be sourced from all around the world but is predominantly found in Brazil, South Africa and India. Pink in colour, it is one of the more expensive semi-precious crystals when there are no visible inclusions, which are marks that affect the clarity of a gem. Rose quartz is often associated with love and therefore it’s a wonderful crystal to wear to promote self-love, harmony in relationships, or to give to that special someone.
