Richard Mille has announced that the new RM 65-01 is “the most complex timepiece ever to leave” its workshop, which says a lot considering this brand is widely regarded as one of watchmaking’s most technically advanced. This timepiece has been five years in the making and comes with a high-frequency balance that allows for superior timekeeping accuracy and stopwatch calculations to 1/10th of a second. It’s survived (and thrived) during shock and drop simulations, as well as waterproof and magnetic tests. Housed within a grade five titanium and Carbon TPT case lies the brand’s first in-house rapid-winding mechanism, which can be activated using a pusher that’s positioned at 8 o’clock. When pressed 125 times, it powers the barrel, which offers 60 hours’ worth of power reserve.
