HE PHAM VINH QUANG
Ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia
“I joined in Batik for the World event for the sole purpose of my adoration for batik as an artistic expression of the designers. At the same time, I appreciate the richness of the fabric as an intangible cultural heritage,” HE Pham Vinh Quang said. Being the ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia, he often has to go to social events and diplomatic meetings as part of his job as a bridge between the two countries. Wearing batik at official events gives him a sense of sharing the pride and efforts with the Indonesian people in promoting the image of batik to the world. “I hope by doing my part in this, it would have an impact even if ever so slightly.” His admiration also extended toward the intricacies of batik patterns and craftsmanship behind it all. “Garuda Kencana Batik came up with the idea to incorporate the pattern of Chim Lac, Vietnam’s imaginary national bird, into its batik shirt design. Taken together, the motif design, colour choice and tailoring precision are spectacular,” HE Quang said. “Moreover, people like to learn about different cultures. Now, by wearing the Batik shirt, I am not only introducing the culture of Indonesia but also the culture of Vietnam.”
