Rolex renews its iconic Oyster Perpetual Explorer and Oyster Perpetual Explorer II models for the next generation of adventure lovers

- By Hesikios Kevin

To this day, the name Rolex has become a singular name for luxury, technologically advanced timepieces winning the hearts of many professionals, leaders and world travellers alike. Be it gemset pieces, classic styles, or sporty ones: all Rolex creations precisely and elegantly meet the wearer’s needs with precise functions and utilities. Of the many latest releases introduced this year, it includes two new iterations of the Oyster Perpetual Explorer and Explorer II, which invite every explorer to join in on the exciting journey ahead.

The Explorer and Explorer II collection evolved from Rolex’s deep involvement with exploration. The Explorer, for instance, was first launched in 1953 following the successful ascent of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. The Explorer and Explorer II watches have conquered the extreme frontiers of exploration, from mountain tops to the depths of caves and in the biting cold of the Arctic or the searing heat of volcanoes. Since then, the two watches have graced the wrists of many more explorers in their journeys.

This year, the new generation of watches further reflect Rolex’s perpetual drive to improve and its never-ending quest for excellence. At 36 mm, the new Explorer returns to the size of the original model launched in 1953. On the other hand, the Explorer II boasts a 42mm case, with white or black dials. The watch’s 24-hours display—comprising of an additional orange hour

hand allows the wearer to clearly distinguish daytime from nighttime, making it the watch of choice for polar explorers, speleologists and volcanologists.

The Explorer is now available in a yellow Rolesor version, showcasing its unique identity and effortless elegance. Rolesor has been a signature feature of the brand since 1933, mirroring the elegance and performance that come together in a Rolex watch. A combination of Oystersteel and 18 ct gold, the materials exude both strength and reliability, essential qualities in the making of the Explorer models. As shown from their tales of world explorations, it is no wonder that the Explorer and Explorer II are the perfect watches for adventurous souls.
