STARWOOD has opened a new hotel in Chengdu. The St Regis Chengdu has 279 rooms and suites that range from 65 sqm to 325 sqm. The company has also announced it will open a W hotel in Brisbane in 2018. MELIA HOTELS INTERNATIO­NAL will unveil its first US Me-branded property next year. The 129-room Me Miami will replace the Casa Moderna hotel at 1,100 Biscayne Boulevard, and is due to open in the spring. SOFITEL is to open a hotel next to the forthcomin­g Internatio­nal Convention Centre Sydney. The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is due to launch in 2017, a year after the ICC. DOUBLETREE BY HILTON has taken over the Jurys Inn London Islington, making it the tenth property for the brand in the capital. The 229-room hotel will see an extra 143 rooms added this month with the unveiling of an extension. PAN PACIFIC is set to make its debut in London following the purchase of the Heron Plaza site on Bishopsgat­e in the City of London by parent company UOL Group. Plans encompass a fivestar hotel, residentia­l apartments and retail space. MARRIOTT INTERNATIO­NAL opened the first property under its Moxy brand last month. Moxy Milan Malpensa Airport is in walking distance of Terminal 2 and has 152 rooms equipped with free wifi and 42-inch TVs. THE MARRIOTT MINSK HOTEL is due to open early next year with 220 rooms. It will form part of a new sports and entertainm­ent developmen­t in the capital of Belarus. ACCOR is to open two hotels in London’s West End – the MGallery Leicester Square at the end of 2016, and Ibis Styles Piccadilly Circus in 2017.
