QATAR AIRWAYS THREATENS TO LEAVE ONEWORLD

-

QATAR AIRWAYS CHIEF EXECUTIVE Akbar Al Baker has threatened to withdraw his airline from Oneworld if the ongoing Open Skies row continues.

American Airlines, Delta and United are calling on the US government to end the Open Skies agreement, claiming it is weighted in favour of the Gulf carriers.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Al Baker (pictured second from left) said: “There is no point in us being in Oneworld if an airline [American Airlines] that invited us, [and] hosted us in America to sign the entry to Oneworld, is today going against us.” Qatar Airways joined the alliance in October 2013. qatarairways.com
