Plans for US pre-clearance at Heathrow and Manchester
THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY is planning to expand immigration pre-clearance to ten new airports, including London Heathrow and Manchester.
The other airports are Amsterdam Schiphol, Brussels, Madrid-Barajas, Oslo, Stockholm Arlanda, Istanbul Ataturk, Tokyo Narita and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Negotiations and agreements with the relevant countries are now taking place. Almost 20 million passengers travelled to the US from the ten airports last year, while more than 16 million travellers were cleared through a pre-clearance facility. Some 15 airports in six countries currently offer the service. dhs.gov
