AA OR BA FIRST CLASS FROM JFK TO LHR?

-

We will be flying New York JFK to London Heathrow in First and have the choice of American Airlines or British Airways. I have not done BA First from JFK so have never experienced the Concorde Room. I have also never been on AA First. Has anybody experienced the AA offering on this route?

[With AA’s] first class product, the hardware seems good but the reports I’ve had are that the food and beverage is nothing to write home about. The BA Concorde Room is significantly better than the AA Flagship lounges at both LHR and JFK.

The BA First product compared with AA First (new or old) is much of a muchness. Service I would say is better on BA, as are the lounges. Note with BA, personal space in First varies across aircraft, with the B747 offering the least, B777 somewhere in the middle, and A380 significantly more. Having said that, 1A or 1K on the B747 is special. You need a Gold BA Executive Club card to book it.

Having flown BA First quite a few times, I would be inclined to try AA just to see what it is like. My main worry about the experience, though, would be that the lounges are not a patch on the Concorde Room in JFK or arrivals in T5.

I have flown AA First from Miami to Heathrow. My main reservation would be the service, lounges, and the food and drink – they’re not really that premium. But there is plenty of space on board and a small cabin is always wonderful so it still feels special.
