Revenue-based revamp for BA’s On Business scheme

-

British Airways has revamped its On Business programme for SMEs to reward company spend rather than distance flown. Three tiers have been introduced based on the amount spent on business flights each year. Tier 1 has a spend threshold of £29,999 and earns one point per £1 spent; Tier 2 ranges between £30,000 and £299,000 and earns 1.25 points per £1 spent; and Tier 3 is for £300,000 plus and earns 1.5 points per £1 spent.

The cost of redeeming points for premium cabins has increased, while the cost of redeeming non-premium cabins has gone down. Other changes include the ability to choose to receive a cash discount on selected flights instead of earning points.

The revamped scheme combines the business loyalty programmes of BA, American Airlines and Iberia under the On Business banner. Members can collect and redeem points on the three airlines’ networks. Companies that sign up can earn triple points on their first six flights with BA, American Airlines, Iberia, Sun-Air or Comair, as well as BA codeshare routes operated by Japan Airlines, Qantas and US Airways. ba.com
