Rev­enue-based re­vamp for BA’s On Busi­ness scheme

Bri­tish Air­ways has re­vamped its On Busi­ness pro­gramme for SMEs to re­ward com­pany spend rather than dis­tance flown. Three tiers have been in­tro­duced based on the amount spent on busi­ness flights each year. Tier 1 has a spend thresh­old of £29,999 and earns one point per £1 spent; Tier 2 ranges be­tween £30,000 and £299,000 and earns 1.25 points per £1 spent; and Tier 3 is for £300,000 plus and earns 1.5 points per £1 spent.

The cost of re­deem­ing points for pre­mium cab­ins has in­creased, while the cost of re­deem­ing non-pre­mium cab­ins has gone down. Other changes in­clude the abil­ity to choose to re­ceive a cash dis­count on se­lected flights in­stead of earn­ing points.

The re­vamped scheme com­bines the busi­ness loy­alty pro­grammes of BA, Amer­i­can Air­lines and Ibe­ria un­der the On Busi­ness ban­ner. Mem­bers can col­lect and re­deem points on the three air­lines’ net­works. Com­pa­nies that sign up can earn triple points on their first six flights with BA, Amer­i­can Air­lines, Ibe­ria, Sun-Air or Co­mair, as well as BA code­share routes op­er­ated by Ja­pan Air­lines, Qan­tas and US Air­ways. ba.com
