EMIRATES will fly daily nonstop between Dubai and Edinburgh from October 1. Flights will be operated by three-class B777-300ER aircraft. WOW, the low-cost carrier based in Iceland, is to commence direct flights to Delhi from Reykjavik from December 6 with connections possible via London Gatwick. CHINA SOUTHERN will connect London Heathrow with Sanya, Hainan, China, twice-weekly starting in July. The A330-200 will have first, business and economy (with extra legroom seats available).
PRIMERA AIR has been forced to charter aircraft for its new services this summer because of the late delivery of its A321neo aircraft. The low-cost Nordic airline flies from Stansted to New York Newark, Boston, Toronto and Washington DC (from August 22), and Birmingham to New York and Toronto. VIRGIN AMERICA is no more, having been bought by Alaska Airlines in 2016. Some aircraft will continue to fly with Virgin livery and interiors until they can be repainted and refitted, but all reservations are now via Alaska Airlines. Virgin check-in and gates will be replaced by Alaska Airlines.
