IHG LAUNCHES VOCO
INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP (IHG)
has launched Voco hotels, which comes from the Latin meaning “to invite” or “call together”. Voco will sit alongside IHG’s Crowne Plaza Hotels and is intended to work equally well in both cities and resorts. IHG hopes to open more than 200 Voco hotels over the next ten years.
IHG has yet to decide which of the Principal Hotels it recently acquired in the UK will become Voco Hotels and which will be assimilated into other IHG brands.
The first signing for the Voco brand is the Watermark Hotel and Spa Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise, Australia. The 388-room property is about to be acquired by IHG’s partner, SB&G, which currently owns five other IHG hotels in Australia and will open under the Voco brand in late 2018.
