THE BIG PICTURE
THIS PHOTO BY PETE ROWBOTTOM of Glen Coe, in the Scottish Highlands, with the mountain Buachaille Etive Mòr in the background, won the 2018 Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. The judges admired the “mathematical precision” of the image and the way the ice fractures mirror the mountain. “The cold of the mountain and ice contrast well with the amber of their surroundings,” said the award founder Charlie Waite. All the competition winners will be displayed at London Waterloo station until February 3, followed by a nationwide tour.
