THE ANANDI HOTEL AND SPA

Part of the Leading Hotels of the World collection, the Anandi opened in July last year. Located in the Hongqiao district near the Suzhou River, it has 325 rooms and suites, and eight villas. The hotel’s principal feature is its 100-plus healing programmes including therapeutic spa treatments, yoga and meditation practices. lhw.com

BULGARI HOTEL SHANGHAI

Comprising a former government building from 1916 and a 48-storey tower surrounded by gardens, this hotel is on the banks of the Suzhou River near the Bund district. It has 82 rooms, Italian and Chinese restaurants, a whisky bar and rooftop terrace. bulgarihotels.com

THE SHANGHAI EDITION

Marriott International opened the Edition in July last year. It’s housed in a refurbished art deco building and a newer tower, both of which are former Shanghai Power Company buildings. A standout feature is its roof garden, which offers a cinema and a bar, along with city views. editionhotels.com
