FLYBMI has ceased all operations, grounding 17 aircraft that had been flying to 25 European cities. It blamed Brexit uncertaint­y and rises in fuel costs for the collapse.

NORWEGIAN continued to face financial headwinds as IAG said it would sell its share in the airline, ending talk of a takeover. The carrier announced it lost £131 million in 2018.

RYANAIR posted its first quarterly loss since 2014. The carrier’s Q3 results showed revenue up 9 per cent to €1.53 billion but a net loss of €20 million, excluding its recent acquisitio­n of Laudamotio­n. Over the same period last year it made a €106 million profit after tax.
