Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing on July 20, NASA has released a collection of more than 400 photographs and renderings. Published by Taschen, The NASA Archives (£100) illustrates the space agency’s 60-year history, with images accompanied by expert essays. This photo was taken by Lunar Module pilot Rusty Schweickart during the first flight of the full Apollo spacecraft in March 1969, the success of which was key to the moon landing itself going ahead. Seen is Apollo 9 Command Module pilot David Scott testing some of the spacesuit systems to be used for lunar operations, with planet Earth as a backdrop. taschen.com
