NEW ROUTE: TEL AVIV

VIRGIN ATLANTIC will launch flights from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv on September 25, operated by a long-haul A330-300. The “Hill of Spring”, as translated from Hebrew, was founded in 1909 as a suburb north of the ancient port of Jaffa. Today the city has Old Jaffa in the south with winding lanes and flea markets, while downtown is home to the glass skyscrapers of Silicon Wadi, the city’s booming tech scene. Unusually, it also has examples of Bauhaus design. Read more on page 46.
