BIG PICTURE
Spectacular imagery from the Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020 awards
The Royal Observatory Greenwich has revealed some of the phenomenal images that were entered into the Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2020 awards. Run in association with asset management company Insight Investment and BBC Sky at Night Magazine, the annual competition received more than 5,000 entries from six continents. German photographer Stefan Liebermann was a runner-up in the Skyscapes category for Desert Magic, a shot depicting the Milky Way from Wadi Rum, Jordan. As Steve Marsh, art editor at BBC Sky at Night Magazine and one of the judges, put it: “The composition of the ground and sky is brilliantly put together and creates a scene almost devoid of life, yet also bursting with it.” You can see the best shots at London’s National Maritime Museum. rmg.co.uk
