SUPER SEA CABLE NETWORKS LAUNCHES SEAX CABLE IN SINGAPORE
A new 250km submarine cable system has been launched connecting Singapore to the US via Guam.
Super Sea Cable Networks’ SEAX system is aimed at wholesale carriers for emerging markets, and will divided in three development phases between 2016 and 2021.
The first phase will see Singapore connected with Malaysia and Indonesia, drawing traffic from the region towards Singapore and out to the rest of the world. The second phase will see the cable system linked to the US through the Micronesia region of the Pacific, running through Guam. Phase three will connect Asian countries including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, with Singapore acting as a transit hub to the rest of the world. The fibre-optic cable will be constructed by Huawei Marine.
