RigNet, Inc. has been tasked, by a premium offshore driller, to enable its fleet of existing and new build rigs. The deal includes comprehensive managed remote communications, as well as the provision and maintenance of both stabilized and fixed antennas across the customer’s fleet of jackups, drill ships, and semisubmersibles operating in the US Gulf of Mexico, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Africa regions. “The increasing complexity of offshore drilling operations is driving demand for robust, reliable digital technology solutions,” said Hector Maytorena, RigNet’s Group VP of Managed Services. Implementing restructuring tactics earlier this year, the company has streamlined costs in line with activity levels in the upstream energy market. “As RigNet gets better visibility into oil and gas industry activity levels, we see additional opportunities to implement internal operational efficiencies and process improvements to enable cost- effective solutions for our customers in a challenging macro environment,” said Mark Slaughter, RigNet’s CEO and President.
