Plaza Watch International - - Display Case -

Mahatma Gandhi is perhaps not the first person who springs to mind when you imagine someone who was the proud owner of a luxury watch. However he possessed and cherished a Zenith pocket watch that was given to him by Indira Gandhi. He was, apparently, a very punctual man who appreciated the watch’s alarm function. He was heartbroken when the watch was stolen during a train journey but thankfully the penitent thief returned it several months later. In 2009, after changing hands in various private collections, the watch was bought at auction by an Indian billionaire and returned to India. Along with several of Gandhi’s other possessions it fetched $1.8 million
