Port Report
The latest and greatest from Quebec City, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and Grenada.
Great outdoor adventures, history, and gastronomic delights await Québec City,
visitors in one of Canada’s most charming and breathtaking cities. Rated among the top cruise destinations in the world, its beautiful cobblestone streets are just steps away from the cruise terminal. Its fortifications are a UNESCO World Heritage site, there is zip-lining at Montmorency Falls, miles of bike trails along the St. Lawrence, and wonderful wineries in the Île d’Orléans.
A short flight from many northeast cities in the United States, Québec City provides four seasons of fun for the whole family! The region offers a variety of experiences all year long, from spring and summer music festivals and outdoor exploration, to fall foliage as well as the famed Winter Carnival and Ice Hotel.
Part of the Canada New England itinerary, most major lines call in Québec City from May through November. Many of the lines stay overnight in port, offering visitors more time to enjoy and immerse themselves in the city. A popular embarkation and disembarkation port, it makes for an ideal pre- or post- cruise destination.
From infrastructure developments including the construction of an additional cruise terminal to an array of entertain- ment and service offerings for passengers, the Port of Québec is growing.
2018 saw the launch of the Strom Spa on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, and upcoming improvements include the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, a large urban park that runs along the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Québec City where a highlight will be Pointeà-Carcy’s aerial bike path. An additional portion of the riverfront land will be reclaimed to build an urban beach, a large infinity style swimming pool, and a reflecting pool. Construction will begin April 2019 and the project is scheduled for completion December 2021.
Whether for a long weekend, overnight stay, pre- or post- cruise visit, or port call, make 2019 the year to experience Québec City and its distinctly French allure … and joie de vivre!
