Fall in love with the Via dell’Amore
Hiking is a popular activity in Cinque Terre — the villages are all connected by a network of more than 120 km ( 75 miles) of trails. The hike between Monterosso and Vernazza is probably the most beautiful. The most popular of the hikes, however, is the famed Via dell’Amore (“Lover’s Lane” or “Path of Love”) between Manarola and Riomaggiore. Hiking all of the trails does require a certain level of physical fitness, but once you start, you can stop at any of the towns and take the regional train to the next one. All of the trails — as well as all of the villages — are part of Italy’s smallest national park. Be sure to visit the website www.parconazionale5terre.it before your trip to make sure all of the paths are walkable and open to the public.
