FAMILY VALUES MEET GRECIAN LUXURY AT THE ROYAL MYCONIAN

-

Humble Beginnings

George Daktylides saw the potential of Mykonos long before it was known as a cosmopolitan playground of romantic whitewashed structures and breezy nightclubs. When the yachts of ’60s high society started dropping their anchors on Mykonos’ shores on their way to Delos, Daktylides seized the opportunity.

With only the help of his wife, four sons, and a Caterpillar 920 wheel loader, he dug the foundations of his first four hotels that would soon become part of the Myconian Collection — the most glamorous portfolio of hotels on the island of Mykonos.

Family Dynasty

Though all four sons studied abroad at the world-renowned École Hotelière in Lausanne, Switzerland, they always knew they would one day return to their homeland. So in 2000, on a sloping field above the island’s longest fine-sand beach, they continued their father’s legacy and the Royal Myconian was born.

A Royal Introduction

The five-star resort encompasses the very essence of Mykonos — rustic exteriors of Cycladic stone, and stylish, contemporary interiors that house several veins of luxury and relaxation.

Its location above iconic Elia Beach offers up unforgettable views of the Aegean Sea that are best enjoyed from a daybed or the expansive saltwater pool. While you’re there, order Mediterranean delicacies, salads, or snacks, or drift over to the Lagoon swim-up bar for fresh fruit smoothies or ice-cold cocktails.

You can add to the restorative benefits of the Aegean by taking your sense of well-being to the next level with rejuvenating treatments at the Resort Spa. Or refine your form in the state-of-the-art fitness room.

Evading Spaces

Each of the 148 rooms and suites at the Royal Myconian are designed to transform your vacation into a uniquely aesthetic and pleasurable experience. Designed by a celebrated Greek set designer who takes cues from a blend of antiquity and New Age fantasy, each space opens out onto blue views of the Aegean Sea framed by whitewashed walls and grounded by the earthy notes of sunbleached driftwood and natural fabrics. Feel free to unwind in the all-white elegance of fine-cotton sheets and have your every need met, from discreet morning housekeeping to evening turndown.

Tastes Like Home

When the first Myconian hotel opened,

Eleftheria Daktylides made breakfast for all the guests and fed 40 construction workers, all while raising her four boys. Over 40 years later, the same dedication and Greek authenticity permeates the Royal Myconian’s three cuisine options. At Ambrosia — owing its name to the mythical food of the Olympian gods — enjoy a breakfast feast of freshly baked bread; local cheese, meat, and dairy; flavorful pastries; and Cretan, Greek, and international delicacies. Indulge in ingeniously creative Greek cuisine at poolside Camares. End your day at the Sunset Terrace, where you can admire the sunset while sipping on a sundowner, shaken and stirred by expert bartenders. No matter what you choose to indulge in, you can rest assured that your food has the “Greek touch” — supplied by local farmers and fishermen who select the freshest seasonal ingredients and organic produce.

Beyond Luxury

Today, the Myconian Collection comprises 10 unique properties, each simultaneously inspired by and shaping the future of idyllic Mykonos. While excellent service, stylish aesthetics, and exclusivity are always promised, it’s the feeling of family values and a shared ethos that have guests returning to Myconian hotels with their own families, time and time again.
