Hello, HIHO!

“Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the Hook-InHold-On was one of the biggest windsurfing events. I placed first in 1986, and eventually ended up buying the race, renaming it HIHO in 1993. Quite simply, our brand was born from the event T-shirts of the ‘90s — in fact, we still have a few of them! We stopped running the event in 2012, but the HIHO brand lives on.”

Caribbean Connection

“We aim to be ‘island cool’ and to design the casual, easy clothes that we like to wear in this part of the world. We’re inspired by our surroundings — the gorgeous turquoise water, lush mountains, and blue sky — in fact, our Resort 2020 collection is called Land and Sea. The creative side of the business is the most fun, and it’s really satisfying to come up with an idea, make samples, and then see the design sell well.”

Prêt-à-Porter

“We produce three men’s and women’s collections a year. For women, we make dresses, shorts, and pants. For the guys, we have linen shirts and shorts. We make graphic T-shirts, too, and our UPF 50 sun-protective tops are a big hit with both men and women. Customers also love our linen pieces. The designs are simple but the quality of the fabric is really good, and I think they’re a great value. Other hot items in our collection are sweaters. Believe it or not, we make great sweaters!”

Island-Inspired

“HIHO’s prints, high-quality fabrics, and fun colors really set us apart from our competition. Our designs are casual and easy to wear, so they’re perfect for a tropical vacation. But I think our customers also like wearing HIHO simply because it reminds them of the islands.”

HIHOpes

“Responsible garbage disposal can be difficult in the Caribbean, so we’re always very mindful of what we can re-use or re-purpose. One of our goals for this year is to be more sustainable and less wasteful.”
