2020 READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS

The votes are in! Presenting your 52 cruising favorites!

When 2020 began, our best in-office prediction was that Virgin Voyages would totally clean house in the upcoming Readers’ Choice Awards. Fast-forward to the polls closing. Virgin is still waiting for its maiden, and a “clean house” is what we hope our office coworkers see in our Zoom background. Oh, those salad days of January 2020.

Even with this year’s unpredictability, we’ve never had a Readers’ Choice Awards quite as insightful as this one. The lack of cruising in our lives did nothing to stunt voter enthusiasm, with the results of your thousands of ballots speaking not only to favorites you’ve made over the years, but to what you’ve been envisioning and no doubt clamoring for while landlocked all year. In a way, without immediate recency biases, these results truly speak to beloved favorites. The winners should feel incredibly honored.

This Readers’ Choice Awards, now in its 22nd year, taught us that the winners can’t tell the whole story. Take, for instance, the Best Specialty Restaurant category. While luxury and local catches helped Holland America Line’s Pinnacle Grill take home that prize, almost half of your Top 10 was made up of Italian restaurants. And amidst so many other incredible restaurants that charge extra to dine, Guy’s Burger Joint and its free entry to Flavortown was voted your fourth-favorite. Talk about unpredictability!
