Musical Staircase Resonates with Symphony Guests

- BY THERESA RUSSELL

Symphony of the Seas guests tune in to their inner composer as they make their way via the musical stairway to the Windjammer Marketplace buffet. Configured with black-and-white keys in the same pattern as a piano keyboard, this staircase consists of 17 steps including the landing.

As guests climb up and down the stairs, the steps not only light up, but also play a tune. The staircase is split into two sides with a rail running down the center and at both walls. Guests may use either side, adding more and more notes to the tune as more people become part of this musical journey.

The technology involves motion detectors on the stairs that trigger the playing of a specific tune and also illuminate the individual stairs. Several people using this innovative and fun staircase at the same time can effortlessly perform their own personal symphonic hit.
