More than 150 domestic and international companies are taking part in the 10th International Exhibition of Bitumen, Asphalt, Insulation and Related Machinery (BAIEX 2019) in Tehran, indicating a 40-percent increase compared to the attendance in the event’s last edition.

The fair kicked off on Tuesday and continue until February 15 in an area of 1,200 square meters at the Tehran International Fairground, reported Fars News Agency.

The four-day event is hosting 155 domestic and international companies, which have put their latest products and services on display.

High-ranking economic delegations from the neighboring countries, CIS states and South Africa are scheduled to visit the exhibition.

Iran is among the main exporters of bitumen and cement in the region.

The country’s annual bitumen exports stands at $1 billion. Qatar, South Korea, India and Malaysia are among the main destinations of Iran’s bitumen.

Iran also ships around 500,000 tons of cement annually to neighboring countries including Turkey, Afghanistan and Iraq.

It was announced in mid-january that Iranian researchers had produced a new type of state-of-the-art bitumen based on global standards whose quality could change based on demand.

There are different types of bitumen in Iran conforming to Performance Grade (PG) which have been categorized since four years ago and are produced consistent with climatic conditions in various regions.

Iranian researchers have now succeeded in producing a new type of bitumen, based on normal, heavy, very heavy and extra heavy traf¿c, which can also be produced for different weather conditions.
