Iran envoy calls for removal of trade barriers with Pakistan

Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost called for the removal of trade barriers between Iran’s Sistan-baluchesta­n and Pakistan’s Balochista­n provinces to promote economic ties.

Honardoost, who was speaking in a meeting with Balochista­n Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in the southweste­rn city of Quetta said the two neighborin­g provinces of Iran and Pakistan have immense trade potential which needs to be explored, nation.com.pk reported on Saturday.

The two sides also discussed ways to expand Iran-pakistan ties especially in the trade sector.

Bizenjo stated that Pakistan should benefit from Iran’s experience in trade sector.

He also underlined the need to strengthen border relations between the two countries by using the capacities of Iran’s Sistan-baluchesta­n and Pakistan’s Balochista­n provinces.

Promoting parliament­ary cooperatio­n between Iran and Pakistan also came under discussion during the meeting.

Honardoost and Bizenjo also discussed cooperatio­n in road, rail and air transporta­tion sectors.

Honardoost also invited Bizenjo to visit Iran.
