Parliament ratifies Iran budget bill outlines
Iranian lawmakers approved the outlines of the budget bill for the next Iranian year (to start March 21) in an open session of the Parliament on Saturday.
Out of 212 votes cast, 117 MPS voted in favor and 86 against the bill, while eight abstained, ICANA reported.
The voting came after the parliamentary body responsible for reviewing the budget bill, Majlis Joint Committee, had approved the bill’s outlines on January 13.
President Hassan Rouhani submitted the budget bill to the parliament on December 25, 2018.
General resources in the budget bill stand at 4.07 quadrillion rials (just over $34 billion at 118,500 rials per dollar) — 5.44 percent more than the budget law for the current Iranian year (to end March 20).
