Bandar Abbas refinery to produce 15m liters of Euro 4 diesel per day
Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company will produce 15 million liters of Euro 4 diesel per day as well as 12 million liters per day of high quality gasoline by implementing development plans.
Hashem Namvar, the company’s managing director, said on Sunday that once the development projects become operational, the sulfur content of its diesel will be reduced to 50 ppm from the current level of 10,000 ppm, reported Shana.
The official added that his company will produce four million liters of Euro 5 gasoline and 1.5 million liters per day of jet fuel and three million liters per day of kerosene with the implementation of its development plans.
Namvar stated that 65 percent of the refinery’s feedstock came from domestic sources.
On January 26, Namvar announced that Iranian experts have, for the first time, produced hydrochloric acid (HCL), a key ingredient in the production of gasoline in accordance with international standards.
“Hydrochloric acid used in petrochemical industry was produced with high purity and pressure in Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company,” he said.
Hydrochloric acid is mainly used in isomerization units whose main product is isomerate — one of the key ingredients of gasoline produced by Euro 5 standards.
Namvar said Iran’s domestic production of HCL means the country now joins the only two producers of the key chemical in oil industry; China and India.
The official added that the refinery can produce 500 kilograms of hydrochloric acid per day.
