UN: Nearly 200 families trapped by Daesh in Syria

-

Some 200 families are trapped in a shrinking area of Syria still controlled by the Daesh terrorist group that is stopping some from fleeing, UN human rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, said on Tuesday.

“Many of them (also) ...continue to be subjected to intensified air and ground-based strikes by the Us-led coalition forces and their Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) allies on the ground,” Bachelet said in a statement, Reuters reported.

The Us-led coalition of 68 nations has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be the positions of Daesh terrorists inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of fulfilling its declared aim of destroying the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
