Rouhani stresses implementation of Tehran-islamabad agreements
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underscored the implementation of agreements signed between Tehran and Islamabad.
Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with the new Pakistani Ambassador to Iran H.E. Rahim Hayat Qureshi, during which he presented his credentials to the Iranian president, according to IRNA.
Rouhani said that the implementation of the agreements could further develop economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Rouhani stressed the need to develop and deepen bilateral relations with Pakistan in all fields.
Pointing to border cooperation between the two neighbors, the Iranian president said, “I hope that the cooperation between the two countries in ensuring the security of the common border will continue and expand”.
Rouhani also referred to reopening of the border crossings between Iran and Pakistan, which had been closed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, and expressed hope that the reopening would result in the expansion of trade between the two neighbors.
For his part, Pakistan’s new ambassador underlined that Pakistan and Iran have always been forthcoming in extending diplomatic and political support to each other.
The ambassador gave assurance that during his tenure he would work towards further cementing the bilateral ties.
