Iran-china deal sign of US strategic failure in region: Ex-pakistani Army chief

-

The signing of a comprehensive partnership document by Tehran and Beijing is indicative of the strategic failure of Washington and future plans by US President Joe Biden’s administration for the region, said the former Pakistani Army chief.

General (retd) Mirza Aslam Beg made the remarks in an article published in Urdu daily Ummat, denouncing US economic sanctions against Tehran and the country’s bids to support the anti-iran conspiracy, IRNA reported.

He said Americans have resorted to proxy forces in South Asia and are attempting to regain credibility with a special focus on Iran, China and Afghanistan.

General Aslam Beg said that Washington seeks to form a coalition against China to strengthen the cold war in the region, adding that to achieve this goal,

Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken is also drawing the line for Europe.

“Tehran has been the target of tough US sanctions over the past four decades, and there have been many conspiracies to tarnish its position in the United States,” he said, who is a staunch opponent of US policies and interference in regional affairs.

Despite all American actions, he added, Iran still adheres to the Islamic principles of justice, self-sacrifice and dignity.

The former commander of the Pakistani Army described Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the great leader of the Iranian nation who has made it clear that, firstly, the sanctions must be lifted and, only then, Tehran will return to full compliance with its JCPOA commitments.

He said Americans know that they will never be able to achieve

the goals of the Warsaw Summit (the Us-sponsored Anti-iranian Summit hosted by Poland in February 2017), because that would pose serious threats to the security of the Zionist regime.

General Aslam Beg stressed that the Tehran-beijing Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation Document is a sign of the ineffectiveness of US economic sanctions and practical measures against Iran, and undoubtedly a major setback for Washington’s expansionist policies in the region.

The former Pakistani army chief also described the strategic partnership between Iran and China as a pioneer of the Belt and Road Initiative, which would not only bring numerous benefits to the entire region, but will also thwart all foreign conspiracies.

The strategic partnership deal was signed between the two countries on March 27, during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Tehran.
