Iran touring official: FITUR helps revive tourism industry
The International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) is a prelude to the revival of tourism in the POST-COVID world and could lead to a boom in the industry, said the director general of Touring and Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Mohammad Hossein Sufi told IRNA that the managers of domestic travel service offices, tour operators, hoteliers and other guilds related to tourism industry were present in the pavilion of Iran during the first three days of the exhibition held in Madrid, Spain, from Jan. 19-23.
“They held talks with their counterparts from different countries about the arrivals and departures of tourists,” he said, adding they reached good agreements,” he added.
Sufi noted that due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19, especially Omicron variant, no conference was held at the event.
He noted that it was a good opportunity for the exchange of views and experiences.
Iran has great tourist attractions, boasted Sufi, expressing hopes that more travelers would arrive in the country in the next Iranian year, starting March 21.
“This will help the country have a bigger share of the world tourism market,” he said.
Fourteen Iranian companies participated in the exhibition, held under strict health measures. The pavilion of Iran decorated with Iranian-islamic architecture was located in the European part of the exhibition.
The tourism industry is a major driver of global and local economy. In addition, it has the potential to improve the quality of life in communities.
FITUR, which takes place annually in the IFEMA Madrid, has become one of the biggest tourism fairs worldwide. In national pavilions, the particularities of the regions are presented to the visitors of the fair, mainly consisting of decision-makers in the tourism industry, such as travel agencies and tourism associations.
The fair is the global meeting point for professionals in the sector and the leading fair for receptive and issuing markets in Latin America – a great event that serves to inaugurate the international circuit of appointments around the world of travel.
FITUR is a privileged setting for the global tourism industry and a business tool for promoting commercial agreements and contacts.
