-

A scientific and literary gathering was held at the National University of Tajikistan to celebrate the National Day of Sa’di with the participation of the Iranian envoy, scientists, and academics of Tajikistan.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tajikistan Mohammad-taqi Saberi attended the meeting with scientists and academics of Tajikistan at the Tajik university, according to IRNA.

In the Iranian calendar, April 21 is marked as the National Day of Sa’di.

Expressing his satisfaction with taking part in a meeting attended by Tajik scholars and academics, Saberi said that Sa’di is one of the top scholars of Persian poetry and literature.

He noted that Sa’di is very popular among the people of the three Persian-speaking countries of Iran, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan, so Sa’di is a prominent and distinguished figure for Persian speakers.

Rector of the Tajik National University Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht said that Tajiks have been familiar with Sa’di’s sweet words since childhood, and now Sa’di’s words are one of the most significant pillars of Tajik school and university curricula.

The Persian poet was born in Shiraz and is one of the Persian masters of ghazal (a lyric poem with a fixed number of verses and a repeated rhyme, typically on the theme of love, and normally set to music).

‘Kolliyat-e Sa’di’ is the most important book by the Persian poet which is made up of ‘Bustan’ (The Orchard) and ‘Golestan’ (The Rose Garden). Sa’di’s real name was Abu-muhammad Muslih ed-din bin Abdallah Shirazi.
