AFC President hails progress of football in Syria
AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa today held discussions with the Syria FA President Muhammed Fadi Al-Dabbas, who is visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain.
AFC President welcomed Al-Dabbas and congratulated the Syria FA efforts to develop the game in Syria, pointing out the important position of Syrian football at the Asian level and recognising their performances in reaching the Asian play-offs in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Shaikh Salman also explained the AFC’s future plans to develop football in Asia, stressing that the continuous co-operation and co-ordination with Member Associations is the key to achieving the AFC’s common goals.
In return, the Syria FA President explained Syrian national team preparations for AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, and said that he is confident that the team will meet the hopes of Syrian fans because of the team’s strong desire. He also pointed out that Syria is benefiting from the performances of their star players, who showed their capabilities in the last few years.
Al-Dabbas also hailed Shaikh Salman’s efforts to lead Asian football to more success and he stressed that Syria FA will support the AFC’s future development plans.
