Software firm to help Chinese learn English
A NORTHERN Ireland company which makes learning software is to tap into the Chinese market, where over 250m office workers are trying to improve their English skills.
Antrim- based Texthelp has gone into partnership with the China Education Alliance (CEA), a provider of online education and onsite training, following a political trade mission to the east last week.
Texthelp will be providing a version of its English Hero software which assists English language learning.
Mark McCusker of Texthelp, said said that the firm has been exploring opportunities in China with the support of Invest NI and marketing organisation Intralink.
“This partnership is a result of more than 12 months of research, in-country visits and relationship building, and on the back of other partnerships recently established in India and Brazil, it represents another success in a potentially lucrative global market for English language learning,” he said.
Mr Xiqun Yu, head of China Education Alliance said that with over 250m office workers in China trying to improve their English, there are huge opportunities.
“We believe Texthelp to be a strategic partner for CEA as we use our combined resources to open up China’s vast market,” he said.
Momentum, the trade association for the ICT industry here has also welcomed the deal.
Ian Graham from the organisation said the agreement reflects the high quality work in software development across Northern Ireland.
