Eurovision stage protester had gatecrashed Nolan Show
A PROTESTER who shouted about “Nazis of the UK media” as he snatched the microphone during the UK’s Eurovision performance had gatecrashed the Nolan Live TV show during a broadcast in Belfast in October last year, presenter Stephen Nolan has claimed.
The intruder, wearing a black and red bandana and slogan T-shirt, rushed the stage on Saturday night as SuRie was performing her track, Storm, and shouted “we demand freedom” before he was hauled off by security.
The incident in Portugal left SuRie without a microphone for at least 10 seconds and she was forced to clap along as cameras cut to fans in the audience. She later resumed her song and finished to rapturous applause.
Dressed in a white asymmetric jumpsuit and with flashing lights behind her, SuRie had the audience singing along enthusiastically when the stage invader snatched her microphone from her.
Northern Ireland TV host Stephen Nolan said he believed the culprit was the protester who had disrupted his TV show last year.
The man, who goes by the name Dr AC Activism, is a socalled anti-media conspiracy theorist.
“I’m pretty sure this is him again at Eurovision,” Nolan tweeted.
The man had travelled to Belfast from his home in London to protest against Stephen Nolan.
Although he clearly startled the presenter, his protest was short-lived as he was quickly silenced and escorted from the studio.
Unfortunately for UK Eurovision entrant SuRie, the drama did not elicit enough support from the European public to make a mark on the contest.
The singer came 24th out of 26 entries during the annual contest, which was won by Israel’s Netta who sang Toy.
