Glanbia add expertise of Moy Park boss to board

Appointment: Janet McCollum GLANBIA Ireland has announced the appointment of Janet McCollum as a non-executive director of the company.

Janet has over 25 years of experience in the food industry and currently serves as chief executive of Moy Park based in Co Armagh.

Moy Park is one of the UK’s top 15 food companies, Northern Ireland’s largest private sector business and one of Europe’s leading poultry producers.

Speaking about the appointment, Henry Corbally, Chair of Glanbia Ireland, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Janet McCollum to the Board of Glanbia Ireland.

“Janet has a wealth of experience of the food industry and a keen understanding of consumer trends which will be invaluable at the Board. I know she will make a significant contribution to the ambitious plans we have for the organisation.

“At Moy Park, Janet has demonstrated her strong strategic leadership and everybody in Glanbia Ireland looks forward to working with her.”

Last year, Janet received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in partnership with Ulster Bank.

She was honoured for making a hugely positive impact in the business community here as well as playing a major role in representing the agri-food industry nationally and internationally.

Yesterday, she was a keynote speaker at the Ulster Bank lunch at Balmoral Show, which is now in its 10th year.

The Belfast-born executive, has overseen a major expansion in the business, including its growth in the convenience food sector, which has helped drive profits.

Moy Park, based in Craigavon, employs 6,300 people in Northern Ireland and a total of 12,000, including its operations in Europe. It recorded pre-tax profits of £35.7m in 2015.

It is now one of the UK’s top 15 food companies, and part of the Brazilian-based JBS Group.

Janet has been head of the company since 2014, but first joined as European accountant back in 1993.
