Two special accolades for sporting service

- BY ADAM McKENDRY

AT the Belfast Telegraph Sports Awards, not only will the great sporting achievements of 2018 be rewarded, but service to sport over several years will also be recognised.

That’s why this year there will be two Special Recognition Awards which will be given out to two sports stars who have given outstanding service to sport not only in 2018, but across their careers too.

With so many Northern Ireland stars making incredible contributions to their respective disciplines, we’re delighted to be recognising the successes of two of our top stars this year.

The second award will be sponsored by Centra, a leading convenience retailer across Ireland. Centra committed a huge £1.25m last year to support healthy lifestyles in Northern Ireland and this year the brand’s ‘Live Well’ campaign will continue to inspire the people of Northern Ireland to make better, healthier choices.

The Live Well plan contains videos and advice on how people can address serious health issues today. In addition, Centra has introduced an extensive range of healthier food and drinks instore, making it easier to stay healthy ‘on the go’.

This year also sees the return of the Centra Run Together series whilst also raising vital funds for Action Cancer.

Jennifer Morton, brand manager, Centra said: “Our customers have told us that they love the Centra convenience offering but that their health and wellbeing is very important to them. This has been the driving force behind our enhanced ranges of healthy food and drink and in making our Run Together events, summer roadshows and the 10Week Wellness Plan absolutely free to all of our customers.

“Centra is proud to sponsor the Special Recognition Award.”
