Nineties chart-toppers bound for Dalriada Festival
FANS of 1990s music are in for a treat over the summer with a host of familiar names confirmed for this year’s Dalriada Festival.
The weekend of July 13-14 will see stars like Peter Andre, Atomic Kitten and East 17 take to the stage for the fun family event in the grounds of Glenarm Castle on the Co Antrim coastline which will also feature X Factor runner-up and I’m a Celebrity star Fleur East.
And in a real blast from the past, Londonderry’s Peter Cunnah will be back performing with his band D:Ream, whose hit, Things Can Only Get Better was used by the Labour Party during its successful campaign in the General Election in 1997.
“We’re delighted to be back with the Dalriada Festival 2019. Every year we aim to create a festival with families in mind,” said festival director, Nigel Campbell.
“The beautiful Glenarm Estate and castle is a fantastic backdrop for our amazing festival programme. We are very excited to announce our main stage line-up featuring current and nostalgic greats including Peter Andre and Fleur East.
“We are also delighted to welcome back Paw Patrol’s Chase and Marshall, a huge hit with kids in 2016, along with the stars of CBBC’s Big Friday Wind Up, Sam and Mark.
“With an amazing food offering, access across the stunning estate and a top class family camping zone, families are guaranteed to make magical memories with us this summer.”
Also on the bill for the two-day festival are names that many will remember from the 90s, Phats & Small and Republica. They’ll be joined by singing star Samantha Harvey, plus a fantastic mix of local singers and bands. The Dalriada Festival has been held in the grounds of historic Glenarm Estate since 2011.
It attracts around 25,000 people each year.
Festival-goers will have access to the beautiful castle, home to the current Lord and Lady Dunluce and their family, for scheduled tours and camping is available over the weekend.
This year’s event will also feature an array of local produce, a street food market to help keep hunger at bay, cookery demonstrations, a family dining area and pop-up restaurant.
